How Much Do Animals Benefit from Water Features
How Much Do Animals Benefit from Water Features Think about how your cat or dog may react to a water feature before you buy one.
Pets such as dogs could confuse your freestanding fountain with a big pool to cool down in or a pond from which to drink. Your cherished pets will probably take well to a fountain feature in your outdoor area. You may need to think about where you will locate the fountain as birds may take it as a bathing pond. Installing a birdbath in your backyard is the optimal answer if you want to attract birds. To prevent this, however, setting up a wall water fountain inside your house is a great option. Dentists’ and doctors’ offices as well as manor homes are just a few of the areas where you can find these types of fountains.
The Source of Today's Outdoor Garden Fountains
The Source of Today's Outdoor Garden Fountains Pope Nicholas V, himself a learned man, reigned the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455 during which time he commissioned many translations of old classic Greek texts into Latin.
It was imperative for him to embellish the city of Rome to make it worthy of being known as the capital of the Christian world. Starting in 1453, the ruined ancient Roman aqueduct known as the Aqua Vergine which had brought fresh drinking water into the city from eight miles away, underwent repair at the behest of the Pope. A mostra, a monumental celebratory fountain built by ancient Romans to mark the point of entry of an aqueduct, was a practice which was restored by Nicholas V. The architect Leon Battista Alberti was directed by the Pope to build a wall fountain where we now see the Trevi Fountain. The aqueduct he had refurbished included modifications and extensions which eventually enabled it to supply water to the Trevi Fountain as well as the famed baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and the Piazza Navona.
Agrippa's Amazing, but Mostly Forgotten Water-Lifting Device
Agrippa's Amazing, but Mostly Forgotten Water-Lifting Device Unfortuitously, Agrippa’s great design for lifting water wasn’t cited much following 1588, when Andrea Bacci acknowledged it publicly. It could be that in 1592 when Rome’s latest aqueduct, the Acqua Felice, set about providing the Villa Medici, there was no longer a great deal use for the system. Though its triumph was passing, Camillo Agrippa’s layout for lifting water was the wonder of its day, exceeding anything built in Italy since the days of classic Rome. Renaissance landscapes of the later part of the 16th century happened to be home to works including music water fountains, scenographic water presentations and water caprices (giochi d’acqua), but these were not filled with water in ways which defied gravity itself.
