Did You Know How Technical Designs of Water Fountains Became Known? The circulated papers and illustrated pamphlets of the time contributed to the advancements of scientific innovation, and were the chief means of spreading practical hydraulic facts and fountain ideas all through Europe. In the later part of the 1500's, a French fountain architect (whose name has been lost) was the internationally recognized hydraulics pioneer. With imperial mandates in Brussels, London and Germany, he began his career in Italy, developing experience in garden design and grottoes with incorporated and imaginative water features. In France, towards the closure of his life, he wrote “The Principle of Moving Forces”, a book which became the essential text on hydraulic mechanics and engineering. Describing the latest hydraulic technologies, the book also modified critical hydraulic developments of classical antiquity. The water screw, a technical method to move water, and invented by Archimedes, was showcased in the book. Sunlight warming liquid in a couple of vessels unseen in a room adjacent to an decorative water feature was presented in one illustration. The hot liquid expands and subsequently ascends and shuts the water pipes thereby activating the fountain. Garden ponds as well as pumps, water wheels, and water feature creations are included in the book.
Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Fountains
Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Fountains
There are many renowned water features in Rome’s city center. One of the most distinguished sculptors and designers of the 17th century, Gian Lorenzo Bernini planned, conceived and constructed nearly all of them. His skills as a water feature creator and also as a city architect, are obvious throughout the streets of Rome. To fully reveal their artwork, mainly in the form of community water fountains and water features, Bernini's father, a distinguished Florentine sculptor, guided his young son, and they ultimately moved in Rome. The young Bernini was an exceptional employee and won praise and patronage of significant artists as well as popes. He was originally recognized for his sculpture. He used his ability and melded it seamlessly with Roman marble, most notably in the Vatican. Although a variety of artists impacted his artistic endeavors, Michelangelo affected him the most.
