Your monthly electric bill will most likely increase with running water fountains. Keep in mind that while you may not notice any rewards right away, your home will be worth more down the road.
Spending more money on our electric bills is not the only downside - the environment is highly affected too. Becoming “green” is just one of the pluses of setting up a solar water fountain running only on the power of the sun. The use of solar energy to heat or cool your house is much better for our planet.
This sort of water fountain doesn't need as much upkeep as others.
These water features require less maintenance than other kinds. Since these do not run using an electric generator that could clog up with debris, they need little cleaning. And less cleaning means more time to play!

Rome’s Early Water Transport Solutions
Rome’s Early Water Transport Solutions Prior to 273, when the very first elevated aqueduct, Aqua Anio Vetus, was established in Roma, residents who dwelled on hills had to go even further down to gather their water from natural sources. Outside of these aqueducts and springs, wells and rainwater-collecting cisterns were the sole techniques readily available at the time to supply water to spots of high elevation. From the early sixteenth century, water was routed to Pincian Hill by way of the subterranean channel of Acqua Vergine. As originally constructed, the aqueduct was provided along the length of its channel with pozzi (manholes) constructed at regular intervals. Whilst these manholes were manufactured to make it easier to preserve the aqueduct, it was also possible to use containers to extract water from the channel, which was utilized by Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi from the time he obtained the property in 1543 to his passing in 1552. He didn’t get enough water from the cistern that he had built on his property to gather rainwater.
