The Godfather Of Rome's Fountains
The Godfather Of Rome's Fountains
There are countless celebrated fountains in the city center of Rome. Nearly all of them were designed, architected and constructed by one of the finest sculptors and artists of the 17th century, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Also a city architect, he had skills as a water fountain developer, and records of his life's work are apparent throughout the streets of Rome. A celebrated Florentine sculptor, Bernini's father guided his young son, and they eventually transferred to Rome to fully showcase their art, chiefly in the form of community water fountains and water features. An outstanding worker, Bernin earned compliments and the patronage of popes and well known painters. Initially he was renowned for his sculpting skills. An authority in ancient Greek architecture, he utilized this knowledge as a platform and melded it flawlessly with Roman marble, most notably in the Vatican. Though many artists impacted his artistic endeavors, Michelangelo affected him the most.
Water-lifting System by Camillo Agrippa
Water-lifting System by Camillo Agrippa Unfortuitously, Agrippa’s excellent design for raising water wasn’t mentioned a great deal following 1588, when Andrea Bacci acknowledged it in public. It may have come to be dated once the Villa Medici was in a position to obtain water from the Acqua Felice, the early modern channel, in 1592. The more probable conclusion is that the system was deserted when Franceso di Medici, Ferdinando’s brotherexpired in 1588, leading him to give up his position as cardinal and return to Florence where he accepted the throne as the Grand Duke of Tuscany. It might defy the law of gravity to lift water to Renaissance gardens, supplying them in a way other late 16th century models which include scenographic water presentations, melodious fountains and giochi d’acqua or water caprices, were not.
