The first implementation of a soda tax in the USA came in February 2014, when it was passed by the city of Berkley, California. The aim is to get individuals drinking more water and other natural beverages by elevating the price of soda and other sugar-sweetened drinks. Research was conducted to find out the status of local drinking water fountains and whether individuals from other racial or economic backgrounds had reduced access to them. The research utilized a GPS app to gather data on existing water fountains in the city. Investigators then used US Census data to find out more about the economic and racial issues that influenced the city. By cross-referencing the water fountain locations with the demographic facts, they were able to ascertain whether access to working fountains was class dependent. The surrounding demographics of each water fountain location was made note of, while also deciding whether race or income rates made a huge difference in the state of repair of each individual fountain. The fact that the fountains were working was not a guarantee that they were well-maintained, as quite a few were in need of maintenance and repair.

The kouroi, regarded by the Greeks to symbolize beauty, had one foot stretched out of a rigid forward-facing pose and the male statues were always unclothed, with a strong, sturdy physique. The kouroi grew to be life-sized commencing in 650 BC. The Archaic period was tumultuous for the Greeks as they evolved into more refined forms of federal government and art, and acquired more data about the peoples and cultures outside of Greece. However, these conflicts did little to hinder the development of the Greek civilization.
