Agrippa's Amazing, but Mostly Forgotten Water-Lifting System
Agrippa's Amazing, but Mostly Forgotten Water-Lifting System The admiration Agrippa’s water-lifting invention was given from Andrea Bacci in 1588 was temporal. It may be that the Acqua Felice, the second of Rome’s early modern channels made the unit useless when it was hooked up to the Villa Medici in 1592. The better account is that it was forgotten about when Ferdinando left for Florence in 1588, after the expiry of his brother Francesco di Medici, to trade his position as cardinal for one as the Grand Duke of Tuscany. #P# While there were various other relevant water-driven designs either designed or built during the latter part of the sixteenth century, like scenographic water displays, giochi d’acqua or water caprices, and melodious water fountains, not one was fed by water like Agrippa’s device.
Keep Your Outdoor Water fountain Clean
Keep Your Outdoor Water fountain Clean Proper care and regular maintenance are important to the longevity of water fountains.
It is essential to clean it out and remove any debris or foreign objects that might have dropped into or onto it. On top of that, algae can be a problem, because sun hitting the water allows it to form quickly. In order to avoid this, there are some simple ingredients that can be poured into the water, such as vinegar, sea salt, or hydrogen peroxide. Bleach can also be put into the water, but this is not an ideal option because it can hurt birds or other animals. An extensive cleaning every three-four months is recommended for garden fountains. Before you can start washing it you should drain out all of the water. When you have done this, scrub inside the water reservoir with a gentle detergent. If there is detailed artwork, you might need to use a toothbrush for those hard-to-reach areas. Make sure all the soap is properly rinsed off.
It is highly suggested taking the pump apart to better clean the inside and eliminate any plankton or calcium. Letting it soak in vinegar for a few hours first will make it alot easier to clean. Neither rain water nor mineral water contain ingredients that will build up inside the pump, so use either over tap water if possible.
One final tip for keeping your fountain in top working condition is to check the water level every day and make sure it is full. Allowing the water to drop below the pump’s intake level, can cause major damage and even make the pump burn out - an undesired outcome!
