"Primitive" Greek Artwork: Garden Statuary
"Primitive" Greek Artwork: Garden Statuary The initial freestanding statuary was improved by the Archaic Greeks, a distinguished achievement since until then the sole carvings in existence were reliefs cut into walls and columns. Younger, appealing male or female (kore) Greeks were the subject matter of most of the statues, or kouros figures.
Keeping Your Large Outdoor Fountain Clean

Every three-four months, garden fountains should undergo a serious cleaning. Before cleaning, all the water must be taken out. Then use mild soap and a soft sponge to clean the innner part of the reservoir. A useful tip is to use a toothbrush if there are small hard-to-reach spots. Do not leave any soap deposits in or on the fountain.
Make sure you get rid of any calcium or plankton by taking the pump apart and scrubbing the inside carefully. Soaking it in vinegar for a time will make it easier to scrub. If you want to remove build-up in your fountain, use rain water or mineral water versus tap water, as these don’t contain any ingredients that might stick to the inside of the pump.
Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain daily and add water if you see that the level is low. If the water level falls below the pump’s intake level, it can harm the pump and cause it to burn out - something you don't want to happen!
