The History of Fountains
The History of Fountains The translation of hundreds of classical Greek texts into Latin was commissioned by the scholarly Pope Nicholas V who led the Church in Rome from 1397 until 1455. Beautifying Rome and making it the worthy capital of the Christian world was at the core of his objectives. At the bidding of the Pope, the Aqua Vergine, a damaged aqueduct which had carried clean drinking water into Rome from eight miles away, was renovated starting in 1453. A mostra, a monumental dedicatory fountain constructed by ancient Romans to mark the point of arrival of an aqueduct, was a custom which was restored by Nicholas V. The architect Leon Battista Alberti was directed by the Pope to build a wall fountain where we now see the Trevi Fountain.

The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Landscape Fountains
The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Landscape Fountains Water fountains will keep working a long time with scheduled cleaning and maintenance. It is easy for foreign items to find their way into open-air fountains, so keeping it clean is vital. Also, algae tends to build up any place natural light meets water. Either sea salt, hydrogen peroxide, or vinegar can be dissolved into the water to prevent this issue. Some people opt for adding bleach into the water, but the problem is that it harms wildlife - so it should be avoided. No more than three-four months should really go by without an extensive cleansing of a fountain. Before you start cleaning, all the water must be eliminated. When you have done this, scrub inside the water reservoir with a mild detergent. A good tip is to use a toothbrush if there are little hard-to-reach spots. Be sure to carefully rinse the interior of the fountain to make sure all the soap is gone.
It is highly recommended taking the pump apart to better clean the inside and get rid of any plankton or calcium. To make it less challenging, soak it in vinegar for a while before cleaning. If you want to remove build-up in your fountain, use rain water or mineral water versus tap water, as these don’t contain any components that might stick to the inside of the pump.
One final trick for keeping your fountain in top working order is to check the water level every day and make sure it is full. Low water levels can damage the pump - and you don't want that!
Eco-Friendly Fountains: Good for the Environment

Constant running water fountains will most probably lead to a higher electric bill at the end of the month. The short-term advantages may not be noticeable, but keep in mind that the increased worth of your home will be later on.
The issue with using more electricity is not only about our electric bills, the impact on the environment is considerable. The only source of energy used by solar powered water features is the sun making them a “green” option. Using solar energy to heat or cool your house is much better for our planet.
Less maintenance is a benefit of installing this kind of fountain. As there is no electrical motor that can get clogged, little cleaning is needed. And less cleaning means more time to enjoy yourself!
