The Concept of Hydrostatics

The Concept of Hydrostatics From its housing vessel to other materials it comes in contact with, liquid in equilibrium applies force on every little thing it touches. There are two types of force, hydrostatic energies and external forces. When pressing against a level wall, the fluid applies equal force at different points on the wall. An object that’s extensively submerged in a fluid that’s in equilibrium experiences vertical power on all points of its body. These vertical forces are buoyancy, and the concept by itself is more fully defined by Archimedes’principle. Liquid acted on by hydrostatic force is then subject to hydrostatic pressure at the point of contact. These ideas are applied to the containers used by plumbing, wells, and fountains.

The Original Fountain Artists

The Original Fountain Artists Often serving as architects, sculptors, artists, engineers and discerning scholars, all in one, fountain designers were multi-faceted people from the 16th to the late 18th century. Leonardo da Vinci, a Renaissance artist, was celebrated as an inspired genius, inventor and scientific expert. He carefully reported his examinations in his now famed notebooks about his research into the forces of nature and the attributes and mobility of water. Coupling imagination with hydraulic and landscaping talent, early Italian fountain engineers modified private villa settings into ingenious water displays filled with emblematic meaning and natural elegance. The humanist Pirro Ligorio offered the vision behind the splendors in Tivoli and was distinguished for his virtuosity in archeology, architecture and garden design. For the many estates near Florence, other water fountain creators were well versed in humanistic subject areas and ancient technical texts, masterminding the excellent water marbles, water attributes and water antics.
