Back Story of Fountains
Back Story of Fountains Hundreds of ancient Greek texts were translated into Latin under the auspices of the scholarly Pope Nicholas V, who led the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455.
Beautifying Rome and making it the worthy capital of the Christian world was at the core of his objectives. In 1453 the Pope commissioned the reconstruction of the Aqua Vergine, an historic Roman aqueduct which had carried clean drinking water into the city from eight miles away. The ancient Roman custom of building an imposing commemorative fountain at the point where an aqueduct arrived, also known as a mostra, was revived by Nicholas V. The present-day location of the Trevi Fountain was previously occupied by a wall fountain commissioned by the Pope and constructed by the architect Leon Battista Alberti. Modifications and extensions, included in the restored aqueduct, eventually provided the Trevi Fountain and the well-known baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona with the necessary water supply.
The Basics of Garden Herbs
The Basics of Garden Herbs
Some gardeners are drawn to herbal plants which can easily be cultivated indoors and out and are perfect in a wide array of cooking techniques. They're extremely simple to grow both indoors or outdoors, and offer instant gratification as you can incorporate them in a wide variety of recipes including soups, marinades and sauces. Maintaining your herb garden all year is effortless to do as you can cultivate the herbs in pots and move them in when the climate starts to turn cold. Since perennial herbal plants don't die easily or require replanting every end of the year, they are a practical (and fun) addition to your garden. In addition, the sorts of herbs you want to cook with should affect your personal herb selection. It is important to plant herbs that you will use. If you love to cook Latin food, you will certainly use cilantro. If you like Italian food, you should decide to plant basil, oregano, and thyme. The placement of your herb garden will determine what herbs can be planted and how long they will survive. If you live in a mild climate, with warm winters and relatively cool summers, it may be easiest to plant straight into the ground. This makes it so you do not have to worry about making planters. It is also a wonderful way to decorate your garden. There is practically nothing you can do to escape harsh climate conditions that might impact your plants. However, there is hope because planters can be transferred indoors whenever there's bad weather outside so they are flexible and practical for your herbs.
