The Source of Modern Fountains

It was important for him to embellish the city of Rome to make it worthy of being known as the capital of the Christian world. In 1453 the Pope instigated the reconstruction of the Aqua Vergine, an historic Roman aqueduct which had carried clean drinking water into the city from eight miles away. A mostra, a monumental dedicatory fountain built by ancient Romans to mark the point of entry of an aqueduct, was a custom which was restored by Nicholas V. The present-day site of the Trevi Fountain was previously occupied by a wall fountain commissioned by the Pope and built by the architect Leon Battista Alberti. The aqueduct he had reconditioned included modifications and extensions which eventually allowed it to supply water to the Trevi Fountain as well as the famed baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and the Piazza Navona.

Public Fountains Hydro-Statics 101

Public Fountains Hydro-Statics 101 All liquids in a state of equilibrium exert power on the materials it comes in contact with.Public Fountains Hydro-Statics 101 77845745293.jpg There are two forms, hydrostatic load or outside forces. The liquid applies the very same amount of force to the assorted spots that it comes in contact with, provided that the surface is standard. All points on an object’s surface are affected by vertical pressure when the object is thoroughly submerged in a liquid that’s in a state of equilibrium. These vertical forces are buoyancy, and the concept itself is more fully described by Archimedes’principle. Liquid acted on by hydrostatic force is then subject to hydrostatic pressure at the point of contact. These principles are applied to the containers used by plumbing, wells, and fountains.
